Chicago is intent on creating the greenest Olympics ever, but we’re not the only city who sees a chance to use sustainability to stand out. Tokyo has announced that their 2016 Olympics would be carbon negative. That’s right – not only would the games be powered by 100% renewable energy, the organizers would purchase carbon offsets to cover the impact of visitors traveling to the games. Since the IOC won’t make the final decision on the host city until October, that gives Chicago plenty of time to jump on the bandwagon. How about it, Chicago 2016?
